Piles Treatment

Piles are swollen and inflamed blood vessels (veins) in the rectum and anus. They vary in size and can be internal ( inside the rectum) or external ( outside even at the edge of the anus). They are generally caused by chronic constipation or diarrhea, sedentary lifestyle, poor muscle tone in the rectal region, straining when passing a stool or during pregnancy.

Symptoms include pain while defecating; feeling of the bowels being full after coming from the toilet. There may be occasional itchiness around the anus or the anal area which may be red and sore. Discharge of bright red blood or mucus while emptying bowels may also be there.

Conventional treatment helps reduces the itchiness and pain experienced by patients. Eating fruits and vegetables which are rich in fiber and drinking a lot of water to keep the stools soft and regular is advised. Losing weight also reduces the severity of pain. Laxatives are generally prescribed if severe constipation is the case or an elastic band is placed around the base of the pile inside the anus to cut off blood supply so that after a few days the piles fall off. In severe cases, the piles may have to be surgically removed.

Homeopathy has some excellent treatments for piles that does not demand the use of laxatives. By opting for homeopathy one can avoid surgery and reduce the risk of recurrence to a large extent.
